sunprint and intention methods

Many essence makers use the sunprint method. This involves filling a clear glass bowl with pure spring water and covering the surface with fresh flowers, then leaving the bowl in full sunlight for 2 - 3 hours. During this time, the energy of the flowers is imprinted in to the water as the universal carrier. The resulting mother tincture is then bottled with a proportion of brandy or vodka* to act as a preservative and prevent bacterial growth, and stored in a cool dark place until use.

There are also many essence makers who have adapted the sunprint method, following their intuitive guidance and the specific needs of the essence being produced, to create essences with pure intention. By attuning with the energy of an element, a sacred location, environment or animal, their subtle energies are invoked to create an essence.

Almost all essence producers recognise and honour the role of spirit in the creation of essences. The producers are often there as 'facilitators' of a natural process, working - as in our case - under the guidance and direction of nature to create essences with pure intention and light.

* Some essence producers use vinegar or other preservative medium, such as the Japanese herb, red shiso.
